So I've got my first gig with the new covers band I joined coming up in a couple of weeks' time. The music is a little bit too "white rock" for my liking if it was my only band, but I've still got the mean machine that is Mimosa to get my fill of fantastic funky feelings from. Here it is and, because I'm so kind, I've put the names of the original artists by each song.
1. Do You want to - Franz Ferdinand
2. Spitting Games - Snow Patrol
3. Vertigo - U2
4. Holiday - Green Day
5. Golden Touch - Razorlight
6. Last Nite - Strokes
7. You get what you give - New Radicals
8. I Predict a Riot - Kaiser Chiefs
9. Dakota - Stereophonics
10. Rock 'n' Roll Star - Oasis
11. Suffragette City - David Bowie
12. Take me out - Franz Ferdinand
13. Chelsea Dagger - Fratellis
14. When you were young - The Killers
15. Tennage Kicks - Undertones
16. She Sells Sanctuary - The Cult
17. Creep - Radiohead
18. Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones

wow sounds good!...
i'd like to see a good cover of golden touch actually. i came across an acoustic version done by razorlight themselves which was wow!...
the only issue i'd have with the list is there's way too much indie pop rock sorta stuff...but what the hell:)...its for fun...
i'm trying to get my own covers band going back here...covers and originals too...but some of the sri lankan musicians are way too high handed and are afraid of doing even a cover with a little bit of originality...even going to the extent of saying "machang i dont think he's voice is the same as the guy on the song"....agh!...
anyway good luck with the show...excuse the rant...
confab - thanks for that. It's also too much indie rock for me, that's what i meant about getting my funky stuff from the other band, I'd get way too bored if this was my only one. But, lots of the songs are great fun to play and that's their style.
you're right, pretty white rocky, but not too shabby! saved the best for last i see.
I'll go with Bowie and The Stones - and date myself in the bargain!
hehe...I was going to say that you've suddenly turned all Indie rock, but I see that you said it yourself.
Why aren't you playing your own material? :(
Theena - This is a new band that I've joined, just for some "rocking out" fun really. Mimosa's still going strong but the new one is strictly covers and pure fun. A nice bunch of guys too.
Cuz toniiiiiiight, I'm a rock 'n' roll staaaaarrrrr... :) Good shit man.
When would the Regular Sri Lankan cover bands go beyond "Long train running" and "Have you ever seen the rain" and play a set like this I wonder. ('Flame' I guess is an exception.)
