As Luck Would Have It

In a week's time I'll be floating around Colombo. I'll be on a quick eight day jaunt, just relaxing, visiting some friends and relations and chilling, in a hot way.

It's fair to say that most people have a love for their Country of origin, whether that be Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan or even the good old US of A.

I've never lived in SL, but was born and brought up here in the UK, to Sri Lankan parents. As I've got older I've discovered and nutured my passion for Sri Lanka and all that goes with it.

As a kid I sometimes entertained the notion that I wasn't at home either here in the UK or in Sri Lanka. But now I feel privileged to be able to say I've got two home countries.

I've got London as the city of my birth, the Capital of the World and that gives me my physical home and then England and the UK and all the great things that come with it.

Then I've got the richness and diversity, the colour and the tropical splendour of my heritage; Sri Lanka. Few Countries are able to stir feelings of emotion and passion the way it does.

As heritages go, I think it's a damn fine one!

Dude, if at all possible when you are coming, can you bring a tin of Strawberry 'Nourishment.' Made by a company called Dunns River. Its a drink that comes in a tin and you can find it at like nearly all the corner shops. Its 99p. http://www.nurishment.co.uk/

Thanks.

anon - Of course, your wish is my command.

Jit - I'm not sure what you meant to say. But in a cricket match of England against Sri Lanka I support Sri Lanka.

Isn't that a form of disloyality to your nation, whose citizenship and you hold, given that you enjoy the benefits of such citizenship!

Lucky you, haha I love all the requests that you have from "Anonymous" ppl

Anyway, just to continue the random wish list:
can you make sure you do the following for me?
- Eat an insane amount of Munchee Lemon Puffs (not Maliban-brand, but Munchee!), egg hoppers, honey hoppers, those cashew-caramel ball-things, vater (or, what I like to call "paripoo cakes") - better yet, make sure you buy it from the people who sell it on the buses... ;)
- drink a toxic volume of Fanta...oh Fanta on a hot day... Portello is not bad too ;)

Okay, before I salivate all over my keyboard...I hope you have a great time!

Jackie - I promise to do most of them, but it will be Elephant House Cream Soda rather than Portello. I hope that's ok.

Jit - No. I don't think so. Maybe you do and that's your choice. I feel that citizenship is not necessarily the same as identity.
