Something I read recently mentioned some internationally recognised trademarks. The Golden M, the tick (or swoosh), the green fruit with a bite taken out of it and the fizzy drink with red and white swirly writing.
I would bet that you have already said the names of the respective companies to yourself.
If you can think of any more please add a comment. I am only looking for trademarks or logos that are known all over the world.
As a sidenote did you know why Father Christmas is always depicted in red and white?
It's because Coca Cola commisioned an artist to draw him to advertise their beverage in 1931. The image and the Christmas ad campaign was so successful that it has remained with us.

The best endorsement for an advertising campaign is for it to become a part of our culture. When we stop seeing it as an advert / brand but instead an integral part of our existence that is when a campaign truly succeeds. It can take take years and millions of currency, but they clearly feel it's worth it and as your post shows it works !
Yes, but that also depends on the objectives of the respective ad campaign. I am now thinking hard to try to come up with any other globally known logos or trademarks.
Thanks for reading
Don't forget Google, the new brand bent on world domination!!
Waltzing Matilda, which some people think is the Australian National anthem is an advertisement for Billy's Tea (which still exists)
hiw about the local 'lion' brand? all you need to see are the colours to know what's being advertised. very intelligent.
Co25 (if I can call you that!) - I think Google is well on its way but not there yet. I reckon it's probably one of the most recognised logos amongst the computer users of the world but not with the billions of people who don't have PCs (yet). I will put it in my list of "promising newcomers".
Jack Point - I never knew that, thanks. Well, I knew it wasn't the Aussie national anthem, everyone knows it's "I can't get you out of my head" by Kylie!
Electra - You're right but I think Lion Lager is not well known at all outside SL. I am after truly global brands, there seems to be a big dividing line between well known national brands and well known international ones.
pepsi and nokia come to my mind.
The Windows logo is prob as well known as the Apple logo if not slightly less.
The MGM lion logo, the snow capped mountain for Paramount pictures...Although I guess it wouldn't be recognisable for someone who hasn't watched a movie. The michelin-man for the tyres...
