I don't know if it is possible to make a categorical statement about all bloggers but I have become a better observer since I started blogging. But I don't think being a blogger necessarily makes you a good observer because the best observers I know are people who probably don't even know what blogs are.

Having observations doesn't make you a good observer. Many bloggers are a little too self-obsessed to make good observers. I count me in that number.
I have a friend who's a journalist, and he says that he views his work as allowing other people to tell their stories. That requires real observation, not just putting down your own thoughts.

Sach - Yes, I too have become a better observer since staritng blogging. But I suppose you're right, there must be so many people who are good at observing who don't blog.
Thisthingison - I find your view genuinely interesting.
"Having observations doesn't make you a good observer". What do you mean by that? To me it seems that a good observer is someone who has observations, but they may not be very good at recording them.
question is, is it a must to be able to express your observations well to be a good observer? bloggers are good expressionists. a beggar on the road could be a great observer but keep everything to himself, form his own conclusions and categorize his observations accordingly.
